By sponsoring the international "Biochemical Analytics" award, SARSTEDT is sending out a strong signal in support of research and innovation in biochemical and molecular analytics. The Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL) awards this prestigious prize every two years.
SARSTEDT has been the sole sponsor of the prize since 2008 and has sponsored it a total of eight times with an endowment of 50,000 euros. During this period, two recipients were honored who were later awarded the Nobel Prize.
Prior to this, from 1986 to 2000, SARSTEDT sponsored the SARSTEDT Research Award of DM 50,000 that was granted six times by the then DGKC before it merged with the DGLM to form the DGKL in 2003.
We congratulate this year's award winner, Professor Dr. Rudolf Valenta, for his groundbreaking work on the molecular diagnosis and treatment of allergic and infectious diseases. If this innovative type of molecular diagnostics becomes affordable, doctors could use customized therapies to prevent allergies from developing in the first place. We look forward to future contributions to progress in medicine.
